6月6日下午,Brandani教授在重质油会议室作了“Hydrogen from biomass using steam gasification”专题学术报告。

Situated in the heart of London on the main campus of UCL (University College London), consistently ranked in the top three multifaculty UK universities, the department is one of the top research and teaching Chemical Engineering departments in the UK, achieving world class standing. Research is a major departmental activity, as was recognised by the award of a 5*(A) rating in the recent Research Assessment Exercise carried out by HEFCE. Our academic staff are leaders in their fields. The research is grouped into three main areas: mutiphase systems, chemical and catalytic reaction engineering and computer aided process engineering. Within these areas, research topics include: particle technology, including crystallization and fluidization; agglomeration and growth in colloidal systems; instrumentation; rheology and mixing; process systems engineering, including process design, optimization and operations; safety and loss prevention; and process intensification. The Department has also recently created the Centre for CO2 Technology.

Professor Stefano Brandani received a Laurea summa cum laude in Chemical Engineering from the University of L'Aquila in 1991 and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Naples in 1995. From September 1994 he was a Lecturer at the University of L’Aquila, Italy. Between 1994 and 1998 he has been a visiting scholar at the University of New Brunswick, Canada and the University of Maine, USA. He joined UCL in 1998 as a Senior Lecturer and he is now a Professor of Chemical Engineering.

Prof. Brandani is co-Director of the Centre for CO2 Technology and is the recipient of a Philip Leverhulme Prize and a Royal Society-Wolfson Research Merit Award. He is a member of the Board of the International Adsorption Society, a member of the AIChE and an associate member of the IChemE.

His research interests are in the areas of fundamentals of adsorption and adsorption processes, fluidization and biomass gasification, and CO2 storage in coal reservoirs.
